According to wallpaper.com, this year’s innovative designs include musical crockery produced by Alex Hulme, bicycle storage solutions from Dominic Hargreaves and a clothes horse for the modern era from Therese Glimskar.
A table designed to be easily dismantled by Lewis Taylor and a table shade from Olivia Decaris which can be lowered and raised to make an indoor/outdoor effect are two of the other highlights of the exhibition, which runs until July 5th.
In his introductory speech, Sir Christopher noted that interior design had assumed even greater importance in the wake of the recession.
He said that today’s students “have a particularly vital role to play in hard times – as Franklin D Roosevelt realised when he launched the Works Progress Administration, part of the New Deal, in mid-1930s America”.
