While your front yard landscaping is generally going to be about other people and what they see, your backyard landscaping is all about you. Backyard landscaping is one of the most well loved methods in improving your outdoor space without spending too much money on materials, labor and other tasks involved in implementing a landscape design.

With backyard landscaping, not only can you achieve an improved overall appearance of your outdoor area, adding landscape elements can also benefit your home by providing environmental functions, increasing real estate value of your home, saving energy costs and adding privacy to your home.

Backyard landscaping can alter a person’s mood and perception because of the environmental feel of the area. As a result, people who work at home can improve productivity from work when they can work on a stress-free environment. Landscape elements in your backyard can have a positive effect on people with illnesses by giving the patient’s mind a relaxing state that speeds up recovery.

The excellent thing about backyard landscaping is you can take control of sunshine and air purification. By plotting the placements of trees, shrubs and other elements, you can improve air circulation in your backyard, while maintaining adequate sunlight to enter your outdoor space. In addition, planting trees can help reduce pollution because plants can control erosion, reduce wind speed levels and noise effects, disperse mist and help in influencing snow deposition.

Backyard landscaping is not just positioning plants in your backyard, it can Save Energy Costs. Backyard landscaping not only provides beneficial effects to the environment and improves overall appearance to your outdoor space, it also helps you lower the costs of electricity throughout the year, even in summer or winter.

Adding trees and shrubs in proper patterns for your backyard landscaping can provide your outdoor space and house with a cooler environment during summer and a hotter surrounding during the winter. The process of plant transpiration absorbs heat from the air and results in cooling the air from water vapor. In addition, trees can shield your home from solar reflection and radiation, reducing the walls and other concrete elements in your backyard to store heat.

When you choose to plant trees that loose their leaves in winter, they help in reducing heat around your property during the summer. On the contrary, planting trees can also help in warming up your property during cold seasons by allowing sun to enter your surroundings. But, you need to consider proper placements of each element you want to add into your backyard landscaping to ensure that everything can function to provide your home with energy-efficient components. With a small investment and careful plotting, you can beautify your outdoor space, save electricity costs, add real estate value and reduce air pollution. It is a win-win situation.

Edible Landscaping, Onions, and Wild Grapevines

This was WAY longer than the 2 minutes that I like to keep my videos around. I was playing with my new camera and wanted to test the audio/video quality. I found a few wild grapevines in my backyard…and if you’ve watched any of my videos about edible landscaping…you can probably guess that I was pretty excited to find this. :)

Brief History of Landscape and Landscaping

Shaping the landscape or landscaping if you prefer signify any activity or process that changes the features of a part of land in a observable way, such as living elements of flora and fauna, landforms, such as terrain shape and elevation or bodies of water, human elements, such as structures and fences, and abstract factors such as elements to somewhat control the lighting and /or weather conditions.

Landscaping is a highly aesthetic landscape art form that needs a quantity of useful knowledge having to do with plant knowledge, practical applications and operating with various equipments. It could be stated that the earliest landscaper was the Greek philosopher Thales of Miletus, who spent a lot of time pondering the nature and various scopes of landscaping.

Where a lot of early landscapers said that right landscaping alters plants or fields directly, such as in the activities of farming of food crops, Thales rejected this definition of landscaping or shaping the landscape, arguing that any aspect of the physical world affecting someone’s visual perception of an area of land was a right application of landscaping. Landscape and landscaping are all around us each and everyone of us.

Both Aristotle and Plato had nothing but praise for Thales philosophical modeling related to landscape and landscaping, as well as how his theories can be applied somewhere else in philosophical exploration. G.E. Moore also mentioned Thales in several of his own philosophical works explaining how philosophical inquiry and discourse has led to the truest forms of human progress and understanding.

Then in the 1800s many philosophers debated if visual beauty should even be accepted as a required goal of landscaping or controlling landscape, though by the years 2000 a lot of western philosophical thinkers had grown to reject the thought of an objective aesthetic standard for any type of art, whether architecture or landscaping

Since the later half of the 20th century, landscaping professionals and practitioners have experimented with stunning visual landscape panoramas that since became widely accepted as being a category of landscaping, at least in the occident.

More often than not we do not appreciate the silent beauty of fantastic landscaping plans. In our busy life the time to look around and delight in the beauty around us has become a luxury. Next time you go out of your work place on a nice sunny day, why don’t you sit silently on a park bench and delight in the landscape around you.
