10 Things to Do to Remodel Your Kitchen Faster

Remodeling a kitchen can be a very huge job.  Depending on the extent of the remodeling project, remodeling a kitchen can take weeks or even months.  There are, but, some things you can do to remodel your kitchen quicker.  The ten thoughts listed below will get you started on ways to remodel your kitchen quicker and still have a finished room that shows quality work and attention to details.

1.  Work with the existing space if at all possible.
Moving walls takes a fantastic deal of time. It is also costly. If you are trying to update or remodel, try to reckon creatively about how you can make better use of the existing space. If you are trying to enlarge the kitchen, try to do so by moving or removing only one wall. This will reduce the amount of electrical work, as well as the amount of framing and drywall work necessary.

2.  Don’t go the sink. Moving plumbing also takes a fantastic deal of time, and adds significant cost to your project.  Even if you are replacing the sink, keeping it in the same location will save the time of rerouting pipes, which could also result in the need for work to replace flooring.

3.  Don’t go a gas line or gas appliances. Moving a gas line will take additional time in completing your kitchen remodel.  In many localities, this will require the help of a professional.  You will need to schedule this work and allow the time necessary to go the line and then make any necessary repairs to walls and flooring.

4.  Choose standard-sized pre-built stock cabinets. These cabinets will probably be available for immediate pick-up or delivery, eliminating the wait for custom work and delivery.  These stock cabinets will be ready to simply set in place and attach to walls or floor.  This saves the assembly time required for special-order cabinets and the on-site construction time for custom cabinets.

5.  If you choose custom or semi-custom cabinets, pitch in and assemble the cabinets yourself for your contractor.
Assembling pre-cut cabinets is not terribly hard if you have some do-it-yourself remodeling experience.  Assembling cabinets takes time, but.  If you can assemble the cabinets in advance and have them ready for your contractor or for installation, you will save time during the actual remodeling project.

6.  Use large stock cabinets to make a pantry instead of building a closet. This saves the time of knocking out wall, re-framing for the closet, hanging the drywall, etc.  You might even find that you prefer the appearance of the matched cabinetry throughout your remodeled kitchen.

7.  Reface instead of replacing your cabinets. If your existing cabinets are in reasonably excellent condition, have them refaced instead of replacing them. This will also save time.  In some cases, the actual work can be done in a day.

8.  Install a new countertop. A new countertop will make your remodeled kitchen look bright and clean.  Your choice of countertop material could completely change the appearance of your kitchen.

9.  Don’t install a backsplash.
If you are trying to remodel your kitchen quicker, don’t take the time to install or replace a backsplash.  Tile installation takes some time to set and allow it to dry completely.  If you are in a rush, leave this for a weekend project at some point in the future.

10.  If you are building a window seat, save construction time by installing stock cabinets as the base for the seat. You can easily find stock cabinets the right height for a seat.  Just choose cabinets that match or complement your kitchen cabinets.  Then you need only position the boards on top of the cabinets and add cushions.

These ten thoughts can save time on your kitchen remodel.  You will probably reckon of others as you start plotting your project.  But you can make a excellent start with these ten things to do to remodel your kitchen quicker.

Kitchen Wall Clock – What Your Time Should Look Like

You know, I spend a lot of time in my kitchen. Every morning I’m sitting at my kitchen table having my usual cup of coffee or two. If I happen to be at home during the noon hour, here I am, back in my kitchen fixing myself something to eat for lunch. In the late afternoon, once again, I’m back in my kitchen preparing the evening meal for myself and my family.

I have noticed over the years that the one thing most kitchens have is a clock hanging on the wall. I have also noticed that the style of kitchen clock hanging on the kitchen wall can make the difference between dull and unnoticeable and charming and sensational.

In order to compliment the style of your kitchen with a kitchen wall clock that will be a charming sensation, all you have to do is know what kitchen wall clock will add these attributes to your kitchen’s atmosphere.

So okay, let the truth be known that the thought of writing this information on kitchen wall clocks wasn’t all my thought. I received an email from the contact page of the website the other day. It was a note from a lady by the name of Catherine.

Catherine had written me a note saying that she was browsing through the website and came across “Wall Clocks.” As she further explored this section of the website, she was so impressed by the information on kitchen wall clocks, she chose to write me to express her appreciation. So this is really how I got the thought to write about kitchen wall clocks.

So let me see. Where do I start? How about I go over different styles of kitchen decor and then I will make suggestions of what style kitchen wall clock might be the perfect match.

When it comes to kitchen styles or decor, you have Art Deco, Country, Modern and Retro. The colors of your kitchen may or in some cases may not influence the style of kitchen wall clock you hang on your kitchen wall. This all depends on basically on the type of kitchen wall clock you choose to hang.

I will start out with the Art Deco kitchen. This type of kitchen decor usually has some sort of wall art hanging on the walls. This could be plaques in the forms of fruit or vegetables. Also, the kitchen backsplash walls will typically have mosaic tile murals running above the counters with pictures of Horns of Plenty, Wine Bottles with Platters of Fruit and Cheese or Baskets of a Colorful Fruit and Vegetable Arrangements.

The Art Deco kitchen could be accompanied by several styles of kitchen wall clocks. These clocks include the Recipes Decorative Wall Clock which starts its life as an actual painting which is then transformed into a kitchen wall clock. In this style of kitchen wall clock you also have Whimsical Teapots, Cappuccino Decorative and The Vitis wall clock that features a Vitaceae vine design. These are more than kitchen wall clocks. These are works of art.

So now let’s take a look at Country Kitchens. Here there are a variety of themes to choose from. You have to question yourself is your Country Kitchen theme based on flowers, farm animals, domestic animals, fruit, vegetables, wild birds or frogs (yes, I said frogs).

If your answer is flowers, then you might want to choose the Sunflower with the Brown center kitchen wall clock, Red Garden Wall Clock, the Daisy pendulum wall clock or the Bouquet Tiny Times Clock. Your choice is just a matter of which clock will best match up with the colors and style of your kitchen.

Next we will take a look at the Modern Kitchen. Here you have stainless steel appliances with metal wall tile walls and backsplashes. Glass top kitchen tables with acrylic chairs, chrome pot racks and multi-colored small appliances sitting on counter tops.

So now you question me, “What style of kitchen wall clock would be the perfect solution to this modern day mess hall?” Well let’s have a look. You could go with the Stainless Steel Kitchen wall clock and keep the metal thing going in your kitchen. You could go with the Round Mirror or the Thin Mirror kitchen wall clock. That is, of course, if mirrors in your kitchen are your thing.

You can go with the Studio 24 Collection. This stunning contemporary kitchen wall clock will turn heads. This rectangular wood wall clock, finished in Black Coffee, features a curved front with recessed brushed nickel bands, with complementing brushed nickel finished hands. This kitchen wall clock features a curved pendulum that is supported by a bold brushed nickel stick to match the case. You never know what style wall click will have you friends saying, “Wow, where did you get that clock?”

Now let’s turn our mind’s eye to the Retro Kitchen. For those of you who have the Diner style kitchen in your home, these kitchen wall clocks are for you. You know who you are. You have the red Formica kitchen table with the chrome table edge and four red padded kitchen chairs with the bent metal chrome chair framing. You have a checkered tablecloth and a jukebox table top music selector that just happens to be a combination AM/FM Radio/CD Player/MP3 Player.

Well let’s see. What kind of kitchen wall clock are you looking for? You could go with your standard Retro Round Metal Wall Clock in you color choice of red, green, black, silver or white. Then you have the Deco Retro Kitchen Wall Clock. This white porcelain frame is accented wonderfully by retro-styled red Arabic numerals and a red center dial. Maybe?

For those of you who really want the finishing touch to the retro diner look in your kitchen you have to go with a retro logo kitchen wall clock. Here you have clocks such as the Coca Cola Double Bubble Clock, the Nesbitt’s LTD Edition Double Bubble Clock and the Orange Crush Double Bubble Clock. These are reproductions of the same clocks that hung on the walls of diners across the USA in the 50’s and 60’s.

So now you know that when it comes to kitchen wall clocks you have choices. So many choices that it is mind boggling. My suggestion, take your time to before you choose your time.

2010 Trends in Kitchen Design & Renovations by Innova Kitchens and Baths

Kitchens

2010 is looking to be a very exciting year in kitchen design trends.  In this article, we explore some of the most exciting trends in design aesthetic and functionality.

One trend that is continuing to gain momentum in 2010 is the emphasis on green solutions.

In countertops, materials such as ECO by Consentino that utilizes recycled materials such as porcelain, mirror, glass, and stone scraps will increasingly be seen.  In tile, Italian series’ such as Feel, Glam, Stream contain a pre-consumer recycled content of 20%, while a series called Charcoal is utilizing 40% recycled materials.

Green is also the word in cabinetry.  For example, reckon bamboo; A solution Innova recently used in a client’s kitchen renovation.  Other green cabinetry solutions include Ecowood; A sophisticated series of real wood stria composites using a revolutionary green technology.  Ecowood’s exotic finishes include  Macassar Ebony, Teak, Mahogany, Zebrawood to name but a few.

Other trends in kitchen cabinets include textured laminates, as well as high glosses, and mixed finishes.  When  it comes to mixed finishes, reckon both colour and texture such as high gloss whites mixed with dark wood accents.  And the dark wood finishes?  Out are the chocolates and kahluas, and in are the sophisticated greys.

For kitchen cabinetry lighting,  LED  solutions are lighting the way.  LEDs  save energy, and provide years of usage before any of the LEDs have to be replaced as opposed to the older halogen puck lighting which have small life spans and operate at elevated temperatures.

Cabinetry functionality trends continue with drawer solutions over doors in base cabinets, and metal rack pull-outs for pantry and base cabinet solutions. And those blind corners where you had to get on your hands and knees to reach to the back?  The Le Mans System solves that problem.  But, the hottest trend by far in cabinetry solutions are servo drives;  An electronically driven systems that opens your drawers with just a touch of your hand…
