@bradmottram – No. It just has to be an insulating (non conducting) material. Wood or plastic pipe for example.

He pointed out just that in the video.
He place some tape on the brass plate, under the copper wire that’s 1mm above.
I figured you already guessed it by now, but a answer is a answer, no matter how late it was made. Cheers!

u need card to get that wifi signal useful to PC, just like U use 56K modem to get internet from your phone line u use that card to get internet from air over antenna
, u place it on your motherboar ( in PCI conectors just like any other card (etc. tv card, 56K modem ) a BNC is connector at the and of tha cabel. It is used to connect COAX cable from antenna to PCI card

@GarbageState it focuses the frequescy of your connection better which makes it go further, insteard of 1 solid peice of alluminum or tin. it is a long coil-strand of high conductive copper. also if you have any gold plated copper or just pure gold wire it works about 12x better

incredible
February 17th, 2010 at 8:53 pm
Ghetto technology, Yeah!!!…and it works, baby!
February 17th, 2010 at 9:27 pm
it may not work correctly because u need power in order to get stable wlan link. i bet that card is like 69mw.. the ideal is to get a 500mw adapter plus this antenna =)
February 17th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
how does coil compare to a can or parabolic?
