Awesome animation of how the ATLAS detector was constructed for the LHC(Large Hadron Collider). I’ll let the video speak for itself. atlas.ch

Some Huge ass difference!

I didn’t say super colliders,I said particle colliders, which have been around FAR before computers. We would not have computers, television, etc if we didn’t know how subatomic particles work. Once again, EXPERIMENTS HAVE NOT STARTED YET.You seem to have a hard time understanding that.Your analogy sucks because it makes no sense and if you’re from the US and complaining about how much money we place into it,don’t because we contributed $0 to its construction.
March 2nd, 2010 at 12:32 pm
Oh so now you gona take me chronologically out of order and tell me super colliders existed before computers. If you don’t know the analogy of ‘Giving certain people monies for one thing and not gettingBack nearly the return promised, either you’re not as smart as you reckon you are ,been mislead,or a scientist trying to keep his livelyhood”appropriated.”AND,YES!ONE REASON FOR A SUPER COLLIDER IS TO BREAKDOWN THE SMALLEST PARTICLES WE KNOW,SMALLER IN A RACE TO FIND THE BEGINNING OF ALL THINGS
March 2nd, 2010 at 1:30 pm
What are you talking about? They haven’t started experiments yet,so there hasn’t been anything to achieve yet. I don’t know what point you were trying to make about Enron and AIG since what you wrote was gibberish. And lastly,it wasn’t built to find out how life was “orientated”,and things like particle colliders are the reason why we have stuff like the computer you’re using to leave idiotic comments.
March 2nd, 2010 at 1:59 pm
This was too much money for what was achieved.Plus they came no where close to what they claimed it would.Does life really need to be orientated .Can’t we just be here .Oh yeah some of us remember why these funds were appropriated.Unlike Enron&AIG Absolute failure seems to be in no way ,in a way ,a way to criminalized in any type of hindsight.Trial& Error is just a part of science. But that don’t make it right or worth it all the time.

One other thing GEEEE hello why Geneva HUH gee Nuetral country no body or Government can say NO not this year…Finally Logistics were right on….!!! HAHH reminds me of Eniweetok everybody remember Bikini wow HOT H-Bomb tests…Soviet Union said NO tests we said suck this!!!!

I just have to question one question –who gets the
Electric Bill to run this Monster for one month….What country has enough electricity to power this for a day?????????????
March 2nd, 2010 at 3:24 pm
okay i got u incorrect there.
hmh, fascinating question, though: can u be reborn into space? probably there is a kind of life within a black hole… assuming u r reborn, will it be as a human necessarily?
we ll find out soon enuff, PEACE

“I have been talking with God and he says I will be just fine, but the rest of you are screwed!”
March 2nd, 2010 at 4:28 pm
I don’t believe in God. I don’t believe that I’m supposed to spend the rest of my non- existent life up in a dull ass cloud living in eternal dull peace. I believe that when I die I’ll be reborn into another life and the cycle will repeat itself when i die, so if the world ends and everyone dies I reckon I’m excellent.
March 2nd, 2010 at 4:47 pm
coz u r as mortal as anyone else, heylie.
well, except if u believe in that god-named dude, then u r of course in heavenz… or hell, whatever.
but! in that case it’ll be of course his divine plot for all of us, lol, so just don’t panic.
March 2nd, 2010 at 5:06 pm
Nothing is going to “fail” ( i dont even know what you mean by ‘fail’)and it’s not going to make a black hole.I don’t know how many times I have to point out that these types of collisions happen ALL THE TIME,and all we are doing is making them in a place we can observe them.
March 2nd, 2010 at 5:26 pm
Yeah. Europe is a continent. I know.
I was talking about Switzerland, and then someone said all the members were Europe hence: “Why Europe WHY?”
Duh.
March 2nd, 2010 at 6:18 pm
We’re going to either find some incredible things, or we are all going to die.
Is there a backup plot if this thing fails? smashing 2 atoms together and such speeds doesn’t sound excellent if it explodes, or worse makes a blackhole.
March 2nd, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Europe is not a country.
March 2nd, 2010 at 8:04 pm
The music that’s play during and after the whole segment proves were going to die. UGH! Seriously … I’m a peaceful girl and I’ve never been irritated by a country. But why Europe why? Are you doing this on purpose? Stop being buttholes!
March 2nd, 2010 at 8:22 pm
I really agree.
March 2nd, 2010 at 8:50 pm
Thanks Switzerland. Were all going to die. I don’t feel like dying anytime soon. WHY WHY WHY?
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:01 pm
I do not believe we need more weapons or the ability to ruin planets. We have enough bullcrap swirling around out there from previous scientists who have sufficiently screwed up many lives on this planet. We certainly don’t need any more “oopsies” from some dork who has a compelling need to see his name in books. If we don’t exactly know how this experiment will end, why are we willing to gamble our very existance? A “1 in 50,0000″ chance is too much of a risk for me.
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:38 pm
on another hand, knowledge that we might harvest from such experiment, will possibly allow us to make new era fuels or weapons or technology to make or ruin stars, planets or black holes to navigate to other dimensions or parallel universes…
March 2nd, 2010 at 10:06 pm
+ so right professor Freeman
this indeed most perilous experiment in history of mankind. this experiment was made possible only because 89% of hunaminity low educated and ignorant what’s happening on the other side of the corner, street, country, globe… this .
“IF” calculations incorrect and black matter goes out of control and all this “hardware” wont be sufficient enough to dump volume…well you get the picture, seeing our blue planet as massive black hole from orbit sure is not pretty sight

Welcome to Black Mesa :0
March 2nd, 2010 at 11:44 pm
awesome, thanks.
the music is a bit distracting though…

CERN did a lot of work with anti matter. If you Google “The antimatter factory” their page about it should be the first one.
